Lesson folder

Every time you create a new Lesson, AUTHOR creates a new Lesson folder (directory) on your hard disk. The name of the folder will be the name you have given the lesson. This folder will contain the lesson file and database and sub folders for Resources, Source Materials, HTML Test, HTML Publish and Backup.

Resource files are the various media files used in the Lesson, such as image, audio and video files. The path in which the Lesson folder is located is initially set to:

Documents\Microcraft AUTHOR\Development\

You may change this path by selecting the Options menu from the Lesson dialog.

Lesson File

AUTHOR create a Lesson file with the .les extension, for every individual lesson. This file is kept in the Lesson folder associated with the Lesson. The Lesson files should not be removed from this folder. The Lesson Files contains information about your lesson, including the Lesson Structure and any resource files used. The content of your lesson is stored in a database file with a .MDB extension. Template files have a .let extension.  All resource files are directly available in the Resources sub folder.

Project Files

You may set the location of your Library, Templates, Graphics and Audio/Video paths for a particular project.  Use Options - Set Paths.

Delivering the Lesson

Publishing the lesson creates a zipped HTML file in the HTML Publish folder, ready for online distribution.  You have the option of producing a SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 package for distribution to a Learning Management System.
